GHJ Civil Engineering undertakes many Construction and structural engineering projects of all types and sizes and have an established track record in reinforced concrete, steel and masonry structures.

Structural work ranges from the construction of bridges, masonry and reinforced concrete retaining walls to concrete slipways, slabs, foundations, ground beams, concrete bases and utility station bases.

In partnership with our consultant, GHJ Civil Engineering can provide a full design and construction service for steel-framed buildings including all associated concrete works.

GHJ Civil Engineering undertakes structural repair and maintenance of concrete and steel structures above and below ground level. Examples on which such repairs take place can include: –

Earthmoving & Demolition

GHJ Civil Engineering Ltd can provide a competitive, efficient and environmentally sensitive Earthmoving, Site Clearance and Demolition service to suit all forms of clients, developers, authorities and construction contracts.

GHJ are proud to procure and accomplish these works using an established site management and setting out team to control land development and earthmoving works along with an advanced fleet of machines and equipment, combined with modern working methods and techniques.

GHJ strives to make a major contribution to reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill sites and maximise the number of materials that can be recycled from demolition projects.

Energy & Renewables

GHJ civil engineering are a leading contractor for hydro building and were the contractor of choice for the construction of the 640KW Yr Wyddfa Hydro Project.

GHJ’s success is attributed to the prevalence and experience of site team of crafts people and plant operators who are supported by a dynamic and professional team of Hydro Building Mangers and Engineers that assist client, and consultants develop program of works, Health and Safety and Environmental construction phase plans and ensure the works is completed on time, safely and on budget.

GHJ own their own fleet of Hydro Building tools including specialist, modern plant and excavators capable of working safely on steep slopes and up to date rock pecking equipment. The machines are operated by highly experienced CPCS trained operatives who are well versed in working in extreme weather, narrow corridors on difficult and environmentally sensitive terrain. Our operatives take pride in ensuring that all excavation works are reinstated and blend seamlessly back into the landscape.

GHJ has experience in delivery of Hydro Materials in tough terrain using Helicopter and use specialist ATVs to transport people and fuel. GHJ have also developed unique working methods for batching large amounts of high strength concrete in difficult terrain for hydro intake works.

GHJ have a team of trained fusion welding technicians capable of butt welding and coupler welding on small and large diameter pipelines and have developed stringent QA systems including GPS setting out and coordinates of joints and a de-beading reference system.
GHJ is the contractor of choice for a works packages including:

Plant Hire

GHJ offers hire of tippers and can supply many recycled or new materials on a collect or delivery basis to both the trade and general public.

To ensure reliability and safety GHJ’s plant and machinery is renewed on a regular basis and all the plant are fully maintained and serviced to ensure productivity, reliability and environmental compliance.

Under CPA conditions GHJ can offer to hire the following plant range (with or without experienced, CPCS trained operatives):

• 20, 16, 13, 8, 5, 3, 2, 1 and 0.5 tonne excavators with or without operator.

Sewage Systems & Maintenance

For over twenty five years sewerage and drainage work has formed the core of GHJ Civil Engineering Ltd’s portfolio.

GHJ are an approved Welsh Water contractor and have installed many sewerage and drainage schemes including gravity sewers, submerged aerated filter (SAF) plant, biodiscs, humus tanks, lagoons, rising mains, box culverts, attenuation storage tanks, combined storm overflows (CSOs), unsatisfactory intermittent discharges (UIDs) and pumped storage tanks.

The team at GHJ are highly experienced and sympathetic to the challenges and constraints of each particular sewerage and drainage project. Whether it’s an urban environment where traffic management and public access issues are important to minimise disruption, an industrial site where productivity and logistics are a priority or a rural site where environmental and ecological matters all require close attention, GHJ have the sensitivity and experience to manage the project.

GHJ currently work with clients in the public and private sectors. Our clients currently include Local Authorities, Welsh Water and Veolia Water.

Utilities & Drainage

GHJ Civil Engineering Ltd undertakes utility works to provide from minor works and sub-contract works to larger direct turnkey projects with trained operatives in street works, Confined space entry and fusion welding techniques.

GHJ undertakes complete drainage installation, repair and unblocking service and offers high pressure jetting and CCTV inspection of drains to check for any defects or damage within the pipe.

GHJ have installed sewerage schemes including gravity sewer mains, rising mains, box culverts, attenuation storage tanks, combined storm overflows, and pumped storage tanks.

Contracts already undertaken include new build, asset renewal and refurbishment of clean water and wastewater treatment works and pumping stations.
